A Philadelphia native who spent several years in New England and later Abu Dhabi before arriving in Hong Kong in early 2017, Sam Faix began exhibiting his work in 1999. Incorporating his past and present surroundings and travels, Sam is constantly looking for visual ways to resolve movement and stillness between places and objects. His dual bodies of work are comprised of ink drawings made from observation on-site, and more abstract paintings and mixed-media pieces. These abstract pieces are infused with memories of the past, often overlaid with various types of grids to form a sort of diagrammed place and time.
