Lindsey McAlister was born in the UK. She has have lived & created in Hong Kong for the past 36 years.

She has been a pioneer in the performing arts for the past 40 years founding the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation (YAF) in 1993. During this period she has been focused primarily on creative writing, devising & producing theatre and choreography. She had the honour of being recognised in 2006 as an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for her commitment & contribution to UK arts overseas. 
Recently, she has been called back to her roots and has set up a visual arts studio in her home in Sai Kung. She has been drawn to explore mixed media (both handcrafted & digital) creations which she feels is the visual arts equivalent of creating a piece of theatre by layering elements and combining textures & images. She strongly believes that creativity is about the way in which we interpret the world , it is about how we think and what we do with that information.

She describes her work as ‘uniquely Hong Kong’.
