Michael Kistler is a fine art street photographer. Originally from Minneapolis, he has returned to the bright lights and gritty back alleys of Hong Kong after a two-year stint in Singapore. Previously, Michael lived in Hong Kong for 8 years and honed his craft in Tokyo prior to that for 10 years.

In addition to fine art creation, Michael offers mentoring and coaching to other photographers as well as bespoke portrait, product and lifestyle shoots incorporating iconic elements of the Hong Kong cityscape. He also regularly runs street photography workshops in Hong Kong, Macau and Tokyo.

Reflections, motion blur, layers and abstraction are typical recurring elements in his aesthetic.

His book, The Downfall of Night, was published by SnapCollective in 2024.

Based in Midlevels on Hong Kong Island, Michael can be found working on location throughout the city.
