Big Time

Touch Gallery is pleased to announce its inaugural collaboration with Li Chi Tak, renowned as the "Father of Hong Kong Independent Comics." From February 6 to March 5, 2025, Touch Gallery in Central Tai Kwun will host Li Chi Tak's solo exhibition titled "Big Time". This exhibition will transcend the boundaries of comic paper, featuring a collection of acrylic on canvas works that invite the audience to delve into his creative narrative.

Li Chi Tak is a well-known comic artist among fans both locally and abroad. He began his comic career in 1982 and has enjoyed over 40 years of acclaim in the industry. In 2016, he was invited to participate in “The 43rd Angoulême International Comics Festival”, showcasing a solo exhibition titled "Li Chi-tak, Hong Kong Wizard". Subsequently, he became the first Hong Kong comic artist to be invited to participate in the "BD Louvre" project and launched the comic "Moon of the Moon." In 2022, he was honored with the "Honorary Fellowships" by the Hong Kong Arts Centre, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the art scene in Hong Kong and Asia.

Li Chi Tak is renowned for his distinctive and intricate drawing style, characterized by remarkable compositions and a unique artistic flair. The exhibition "Big Time" tells the story of a night, portraying the long wait and aspirations encountered in the struggle for ideals. The works encompass genres such as science fiction, action, romance, and mystery, pushing the limits of his comic style through whimsical experimentation and genre innovation, thus constructing his own visual universe.

We sincerely invite you to explore this new chapter of a fantastical celebration and enter the unique artistic world of Li Chi Tak!
