REDRESSING THE LION DANCE

Redressing the Lion Dance

Experience a unique fusion of Hong Kong’s vibrant heritage and modern sustainability as MONDRIAN Hong Kong and environmental NGO Redress present “Redressing the Lion Dance.” Hosted at The Corner Shop, this exhibition reimagines the iconic symbols of Chinese New Year through the lens of creative upcycling.

The showcase features stunning, performance-ready lion dance costumes designed by local sustainable talents Pearl Leung and Eric Wong. Over two months, these designers transformed unwearable post-consumer textiles into intricate art pieces, breathing new life into discarded fabrics while honoring traditional craftsmanship.

To ensure authenticity and functionality, the works were developed in collaboration with the legendary Ha Kwok Cheung dragon and lion dance troupe, an institution with over 90 years of history in Hong Kong. This exhibition invites the community to experience a unique fusion of culture, art, and sustainability, celebrating the city's spirit of innovation and commitment to a greener future.
